Opening Ceremony for the “2016 China-Nigeria Agricultural Technical Training”Source:CGCOC Click:215
In order to boost the China-Africa 10 Cooperation
Plans, and fasten the Nigerian agricultural modernization, the “2016 China-Nigeria
Agricultural Technical Training” program sponsored by the Chinese government
and organized by Green Agriculture West Africa Ltd. was held opening ceremony
on June 13th in Abuja. Dr. Shehu Mohammed,the Permanent Secretary of
Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr. Qin Jian, Charge Affaires
of Chinese Embassy in Nigeria, and Mr. Zhao Linxiang, Chinese Economic and
Commercial Councilor in Nigeria also attended this opening ceremony. Mr. Zhao Linxiang delivered in his speech that agriculture plays a very important role in Nigerian economy and China and Nigeria have complementary advantages, which offer great potential for agricultural cooperation. This is the first time that China sponsors overseas training program, which marks a new page for China-Africa agricultural cooperation.
Dr. Shehu Mohammed, the Permanent Secretary of Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, extended his gratitude to the Chinese government for their long-term support in Nigerian agricultural development, hoping that all the trainees will take this opportunity to learn China’s agricultural development experience and make full use of it in their future career. He also hopes that such kind of training program shall be continuously held in the future.
Mr. Ye Shuijin, the Assistant President of CGCOC GROUP gave a speech, mentioning that since its inception in 1983, CGCOC has expanded its business to many areas including agriculture, infrastructure construction, and mining from mere borehole drilling. In 2013, CGCOC invested in Abuja an agricultural high-tech demonstration center, introducing Chinese advanced agricultural technics by demonstration, crops research and development. This time, the training program will be taken place in this demonstration park.
This training program lasts for 5 days, and courses cover seeds production, fertilizer application, rice transplanting, and agricultural machinery practices. All the trainers are from Green Agriculture West Africa Ltd. and they will also take all the trainees to the CGCOC Agriculture High-tech Demonstration Center for on-site practice.
This event was declared open by Mr. Qin Jian, Charge Affaires of Chinese Embassy in Nigeria.
