On October 27, 2018, the inaugural meeting and first academic seminar of the "Belt and Road" African Studies Alliance initiated by the African Research Institute of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies was held in Guangzhou. Experts and scholars from nearly 30 China-Africa think tanks, including the Center for African Studies at Peking University, Ain Shamus University in Egypt, and international organizations such as the World The President of The Chinese Overseas Group, Ji Jianmin, attended the inaugurat ceremony of the African Research Alliance.The theme of the seminar was "'One Belt, One Road': A New Journey for China-Africa Cooperation".
As an expert at Tsinghua University's Center for Economic and Diplomatic Research on Africa, President Ji Weimin of CGCOC attended the founding ceremony and delivered a keynote speech entitled "Playing the role of a think tank platform and promoting the building of a community of shared future between China and Africa". Ji introduced the basic situation and main research results of Tsinghua University's Center for Economic and Diplomatic Research, and combined with his 25 years of practical experiences in Africa, made suggestions on the next research topics of the Think Tank Alliance, especially on key African countries such as Nigeria, Ethiopia and Senegal for the new challenges and opportunities of China-Africa cooperation in the new era. Meanwhile  he expressed his willingness to carry out joint research with the members of the Alliance in order to make important contributions to promoting China-Africa cooperation of building a closer community with shared future between China and Africa.
