On September 2, 2018, the CCGOC leaders met in Beijing with Muhammadu Buhari, the Nigerian President who came to China for a state visit and participated in the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. The CGCOC has been worked in Nigeria for 35 years. When reviewing this history together, CGCOC leaders expressed their gratitude to the Nigerian government and people for the opportunities brought to the CGCOC. The President also expressed his gratitude to the Chinese government and Chinese enterprises for their contributions in various areas of economic and social development in Nigeria.
On August 30, 2018, Mr. Capolé, President of Burkina Faso, met with the Chairman of CGCOC in Beijing. The two sides Made a discussion in some important field for China-Burkina Faso cooperation. On the morning of August 29, 2018, the Côte d'Ivoire Minister of transportation and the General Manager of the Railway Operation Management Company visited the headquarters of CGCOC , met with the group leaders. In May 19th 2017, Ethiopian Ministry of Finance and Economic Cooperation and China EXIM Bank signed Loan Agreement on Adama (Ethiopia-Hunan) Machinery and Equipment Industrial Zone. Adama zone, the first industrial park project sponsored by Chinese government since the release of Ten Plans for Sino-Africa Cooperation, will be constructed and partially operated by CGCOC.

On the afternoon of Dec. 4th, 2015, Mr. Xi Jinping, the President of the People’s Republic of China attended the opening ceremony of the China-Africa Equipment Manufacturing Industry Exhibition with the company of Mr. Jacob Zuma, the President of South Africa and Mr. Robert Gabriel Mugabe, the President of Zimbabwe. Mr. Xi, together with other African leaders visited our New Energy Booth and the President of CGCOC GROUP gave an introduction on the projects.
On Dec. 5th, 2015, the Assistant President of CGCOC GROUP and General Manager of CGC Nigeria Ltd. signed an MOU on cassava industrial development with the representative of Liberian government, Mr. Amara Mohamed Konneh, Minister of Ministry of Finance and Development Planning at Johannesburg.

In order to extend gratitude to the Ethipian staff, Ethiopian company organized one week trip to China for those staff who has been constantly working for over 10 years. On the afternoon of Oct. 15th, the president of CGCOC GROUP met the President of the Republic of Chad, Mr. Idriss Déby, who was paying state visit to China. Both sides exchanged ideas on the long-term development of CGCOC GROUP in Chad.
On the morning of September 15th, Mr. Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz, the President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania visited our office in Beijing and met the president of CGCOC GROUP.
On December 28 2014, the Phase II of Duala Water Supply Project in Cameroon executed by CGCOC was completed successfully. Duala is the largest city and the economic capital of Cameroon with a population of more than two million people. It is also a major freight port in central Africa. With the growth of urbanization and population, the existing water supply infrastructure cannot meet the water demand for urban development. On November 2009, Cameroon’s Ministry of Economy, Planning and Regional Development and the Export-Import Bank of China signed a credit agreement that CGCOC as the sole contractor is in charge of the design, planning and execution of the Duala Water Supply Project (Phase II). The grand project was completed as scheduled and provides extra 10,000 tons of quality drinking water to Duala residents, which helps resolve the city’s difficulty in water supply, reduce the diseases caused by lack of drinking water and improves living conditions of people in Duala and the whole country.
The commencement ceremony of Ethiopia - Djibouti cross-border water supply project conducted by CGCOC was held in Ali Sabieh province of Djibouti on March 22nd, 2015. Several government officials attended the ceremony including the president and the prime minister of Djibouti, the counselor to the prime minister of Ethiopia, the deputy finance minister of Ethiopia, the Chinese ambassador in Djibouti, etc. The president of CGCOC delivered a speech at the ceremony. The Ethiopia - Djibouti cross-border water supply project is a livelihood security project planned from 2012 to relieve the shortage of fresh water resources in Djibouti. The whole construction process of the project will be completed within two years. As the programmer, CGCOC is responsible for the overall planning, construction and management. After the project is completed, it can provide 100,000 cubic meters of high quality drinking water for five main towns in Djibouti, about 750000 people accounting for 85% of the population of Djibouti are directly benefited. It is a regional interconnection project within the east African promoted by the government of Ethiopia, Djibouti and China, designing to obtain water from Ethiopia, to provide high quality drinking water for people in Djibouti through cross-border water pipes. This is a preferential loan project sponsored by The Export-Import Bank of China and implemented by CGCOC. The president of Djibouti, Ismail Omar Guelleh, said that China is a big country, which has been providing a lot of assistance to Djibouti; it vigorously promotes the social and economic development of Djibouti, so that the people of Djibouti are grateful to that. At the same time, the government of Djibouti believes in the strength and technical expertise of CGCOC to complete the project excellently and helps to relieve the shortage of fresh water resources in Djibouti. The president of CGCOC said as the programmer of the Ethiopia - Djibouti cross-border water supply project, they will complete the task in good quality within the limited time to provide clean water for local people in Djibouti and improving people's livelihood. Meanwhile, the project can achieve rapid progress in a short time is thanks to the shared developing aspirations between the two governments, the long-term friendship between China and Africa, as well as the support that Chinese government provided for enterprises to "going out". In the future, CGCOC will continue to practice the strategy of overseas economic cooperation with foreign countries, roots long-term abroad to seek for the sustainable development of internationalization and make contribution to the social and economic development of local country.
At 9 a.m. March 8 2015, the completion ceremony for the phases III of Addis Ababa Deep Well Water Supply Project (Akaki Water Source 2) was launched. The project started from November 19 2012, lasting 27 months in total. The project started from November 19 2012, lasting 27 months. It supplies over 80,000 m3of water each day, ensuring daily water usage for 630,000 people in Addis Ababa. The ceremony received high attention from local government in Ethiopia, the Chinese Embassy in Ethiopia, Group leaders and the press. The distinguished guests attending the ceremony are Mr. Hailemariam Desalgne, Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Ms. Aster Mamo, Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Diriba Kuma, Mayor of Addis ; Mr. La Yifan , Chinese Ambassador in Ethiopia, Mr. Zhang Lin,Chinese Economic and Commercial Counselor, Mr. Gao Lei , General Manager of CGCOC Group, Ethiopia among 700 plus honorable guests from all walks of life. Both Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalgne and Ambassador La Yifan delivered speeches to express appreciation for CGCOC Group’s strenuous efforts in and support for the livelihood projects in Ethiopia and hope for broader cooperation in Ethiopia’s construction and greater contribution in enhancing China-Ethiopia friendship. On behalf of CGCOC Group and its President, General manager Gao Lei extended congratulations on the completion of the project. Soon afterwards, Mr. Prime Minister and Mr. Ambassador attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony and the unveiling ceremony for the project’s memorial brass plague.
On December 5, CGCOC held a ceremony for its renaming and 12thanniversary at its headquarter. On this occasion, the group was officially renamed as CGCOC ( former name CGC Overseas Construction Corporation Ltd. ), marking its transformation from a construction enterprise into a multinational corporation focusing on counselling, investment, infrastructure construction, industry, logistics and leasing. On November 25, Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan cut ribbon for the Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport in Kebbi State, which was constructed by our Group. Mr. Ye Shuijin, Deputy General Manager of CGCOC Nigeria Company, and Mr. Jiang Wei, General Manager of the Northwest Region, attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
On November 15, the opening ceremony of Ethiopia Kombolcha-Mekane Selam-Gundewein project was held in the Blue Nile Bridge. Demeke Mekonen, Ethiopian Deputy Prime Minister, Gedu Andergecha, Governor of Amhara, Workineh Gebeyehu, Minister of Transportation and Communications Ministry, and Zhang Lin, Economic Counsellor of Chinese Embassy in Ethiopia attended the ceremony and cut the ribbon. The infrastructure of Kombolcha-Mekane Selam-Gundewein spanned across the Nile, with a total length of 315 km. It is an important link between Welo and Gojam areas in the Nile region. The Blue Nile Bridge is 294.2 meters in length, using AASHTO-2004 standard and new construction technology. It is currently the largest single-hole highway bridge in Ethiopia. The successful completion of this project has gained valuable experience for the company to undertake construction in complex geological conditions. It also greatly helps promote Sino-Ethiopia friendship and has great economic and social impact in Ethiopia.
On the afternoon of October 22, CGCOC Group joined the bilateral meeting between Chinese Ministry of Land and Resources and Mali’s Ministry of Mines and Industry, and signed a MOU and an agreement on the co-construction of Mali’s National Mining Laboratory with the Ministry of Mines and Industry. President Ji Weimin and Minister Boubou Cisse represented each party to sign the agreement. According to the agreement, CGCOC Group and Mali’s Ministry of Mines and Industry would jointly finance and establish Mali’s National Mining Laboratory. The two parties would launch more in-depth cooperation in Mali’s geology and mineral sources in an all-round way. Mr. Wang Min, Vice-Minister of Land and Mineral Resources and other officials concerned attended the signing ceremony. Vice-Minister Wang Min fully confirmed CGCOC’s efforts in promoting China-Mali cooperation in mines. He pointed out that the concept of green developing of mining industry proposed by CGCOC has actively advanced China’s specialized technologies and equipment in going global, and its infrastructure construction surround mining industry has promoted the economic growth of the host country. “The Ministry of Land and Mineral Resources will continue to support overseas mining development of enterprises.” Vice-Minister Wang Min stated. Boubou Cisse, the Minister of Mines & Industry of Mali said in the meeting that the president of Mali signed a guidance document on China-Mali cooperation on mining exploration during his visit to China this September, which led to gradual fulfillment of various work in the Ministry of Mines and Industry. The Ministry will launch a series of in-depth cooperation with CGCOC Group. The bilateral meeting between the two parties fell upon the 16thChina International Mining Conference in Tianjin. To strengthen exchanges with mining enterprises at home and abroad and seek more cooperation opportunities, CGCOC Group and tth Mali’s Ministry of Mines and Industry set up a booth together at the conference.
To build a learning-oriented enterprise and fine corporate culture, and to enrich employees’ spare time, on October 9, the Nigerian branch of CGCOC held the Fifth CGCOC Cup Knowledge Contest at its headquarter in Kaduna. The contest was hosted by the human resources department of the Nigerian branch of CGCOC. The 11 subordinating Party groups took part in the contest. Mr. Huang Jie, the Party Branch Secretary and the President of the Organizing Committee and other leaders attended and watched the contest. Though fierce competition, the Party group from northwestern region retained the championship, runner-up for the agriculture company of CGCOC, and the third winner for Kaduna group. After the contest was completed, Secretary Huang Jie delivered a speech in which he expressed support and appreciation for contestants’ excellent performance and hoped the party members and young employees keep on learning, broadening their horizons and improving comprehensive quality in spare time.
Recently, the U.S. McGraw-Hill Construction publicized the Engineering News-Record (hereinafter referred to as "ENR") ranking of the world's largest 225 international contractors in 2014 on its official website. CGCOC group ranked 93rd among the world's largest 250 international contractors list, and it ranked 20th place among the domestic companies in the list. ENR ranking is an authoritative ranking in global construction industry. The ranking is organized by China International Contractors Association domestically and reviewed by ENR.
The Poli Lotus International Center, a project invested byCGCOCEthiopian company, was officially opened on September 15. This is a high-end real estate project in Addis Ababa, capital of Ethiopia, attracting attention and support in the community. His Excellency the President of Ethiopia Mulatu Teshome, Diriba Kuma, Mayor of Addis Ababa, Mr. Xie Xiaoyan Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia, and Mr. Zhang Lin, Commercial Counsellor, were invited to attend the opening ceremony. As the host, Sun Guoqiang, vice president of the group, made the first remarks in the ceremony. Subsequently, Ambassador Xie Xiaoyan and the President of Ethiopia both made passionate speeches and affirmed the importance of the project to help with the urbanization of Ethiopia. Mr. Mayor, Ambassador Xie Xiaoyan and the President cut the ribbon to officially open the center. Leaders and guests from Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Ethiopian government were also invited to attend the event.
On the morning of September 5, CGCOC Group held a ceremony for donating first aid medical supplies to Malian government in the conference room at its headquarter. Malian Ambassador in China and leaders of the Group attended the ceremony. CGCOC has long-term presence in Africa and share weal and woe with African people. Our donation to Malian government fully demonstrated our determination to jointly address the daunting challenge posed by Ebola with Mali and build a bright future for the cooperation between China and Mali. Malian Ambassador in China expressed his thanks for CGCOC’s donation. Mr. Ambassador said that now West Africa has been raged by Ebola. Although Mali has not seen Ebola case so far, the whole country is on high alert to prevent the spread of the epidemic. and He believed that the supplies would play a critical role in Mali’s defense against Ebola. Mr. Ambassador also hoped the kindness of CGCOC would drive more enterprises and funding to Africa in their fight against Ebola.
On August 5, the opening ceremony for the fifth “training of overseas management executives to improve their execution efficiency” was held at Tsinghua New Water Conservancy Hall. This training session was jointly organized by the Group and Tsinghua University. 50 key executives, recommended by domestic and international operating agencies, will participate in a 20-day study programme. Cen Zhangzhi (former vice president of Tsinghua University), Wang Xiaoming (deputy director of Tsinghua University Vocational Manager Training Centre), the President and some other leaders of the Group attended the opening ceremony. This training purports to “create a growing team and achieve the transformation and upgrading”. It is hoped that after 20 days of intensive training, the participating executives will build up their capacity, through which they will exert a satellite effect on the team they are from, thereby increasing the overall management level. In the opening ceremony, Tsinghua University and the Group leaders jointly awarded the symbolic class flags to the class representatives. Cen Zhangzhi (former vice president of Tsinghua University) gave a warm speech, detailing the history of Tsinghua University and expressed his warm welcome to the trainees. The Group President, in light of the status quo of the Group, proposed the positioning of the company as a market-leading and high-end multinational. He also asked trainees to study hard and work on a common goal to enhance their capacity, seize opportunities and meet new challenges. The opening ceremony came to an end with a round of warm applause from the participants.

Recently a delegation consisting of several managers from famous Chinese enterprises paid a visit to CGCOC Nigeria for a survey. Our company’s management in Nigeria extended warm welcome and held a symposium with them in the office building in Abuja. Soon afterwards, the delegation went to Abuja and Lagos for a field research. They investigated the operation of our real estate, mining, construction materials, agriculture and petroleum and gas projects in Nigeria and showed great interests and wishes for an all-round corporation with our company.
On June 29, CGCOC Nigeria held the Fifth “CGCOC Cup” Speech Contest in its office building in Abuja. The theme of the contest was “New Era, New Dream”. 18 contestants from various departments and subsidiaries of the Nigeria branch took part into the contest. Through fierce competition, Zhang Xiaofan from the water conservancy and hydropower branch won the first prize. Huang Weidong and Kou Jiangtao who came from the Mining Branch Company and Counselling Branch Company respectively won the second prize. Sun Baoping from Water Branch Company, Du Mingming from the Mining Branch Company as well as Li Yan from the Northern Region won the third prize. The competition enhanced the communication and exchanges among employees, and improved organization cohesion and propelled the company’s “Deepening Reform and Transformation”.
According to the latest statistics from the Department of Cooperation, the Ministry of Commerce, CGCOC Group ranked 21th among the top 50 overseas projects contracting companies in terms of business volume in 2013. The value of newly signed contracts ranked 14thamong the top 50, up by five year on year. Since 2006, the Department of Foreign investment and Economic Cooperation of the Ministry of Commerce began to release the business turnover of contract foreign projects and the value of newly signed contracts of top 50 enterprises. CGCOC Group has been the top 50 for 8 consecutive years.
April 8 was the 10thanniversary of CGCOC Chad. Officials from Chinese Embassy in Chad and its Economic and Commercial Office, government leads in Chad, representatives from enterprises together with CGCOC Group leaders attended the celebration activity in N'djamena themed “10 years of journey in Chad, build a bright future with gratitude”. The celebration ceremony started with a promotion video. Mr. Pang Dongsong, General Manager of CGCOC Chad company delivered a speech introducing the company’s development over the past ten years in Chad. In the meantime, Mr. Pang extended gratitude for Chinese Embassy in Chad and its Economic and Commercial Office, Chad’s government and all sectors of society for their help and support. He also expressed strong determination to make contributions to Chad’s economic growth and national rejuvenation in the future. Subsequently, the distinguished guests watched a show with local features. President of RFC Soccer League and National Basket Association of Chad made a speech in which he thanked CGCOC for its sponsorship and support, compliment the efforts of CGCOC in integrating into Chad and in contributing to Chad’s national development, cultural construction and the fulfillment of social responsibility. With the song of CGCOC Chad, Chinese Ambassador in Chad Hu Zhiqiang, Chad’s Secretary General of Presidency, Secretary General of the Infrastructure Department and group leaders of CGCOC cut the cake for the 10thanniversary and celebrated the successful ending of the ceremony.
Content: On March 21, Yunnan Sunshine Infrastructure Construction Company, a holding company of CGCOC Group competed the C4A Project and the road was open to traffic. The project was to renovate the old road which was 16.25 km long and went through five small towns including Agalawatta. The project team had overcome several adverse influences including land requisition and demolishing and unfavorable climate and competed the project with careful organization and appropriate construction.
Overseas companies of our group held various forms of activities to celebrate the Spring Festival so that employees can spend a joyful and peaceful festival and feel at home in foreign countries. On the evening of January 29 2014, CGCOC Nigeria company held a Spring Festival evening party themed “Glorious in 2013, Soaring in 2014” in its Kaduna base in north Nigeria. More than a hundred employees from the branch and subsidiaries of CGCOC Nigeria company reviewed the company’s fruitful achievements in 2013, looked into its promising future and expressed their good wishes for the motherland and their beloved ones with colorful performance such as dancing and singing. People’ Daily Online reported the party in an article titled Chinese Enterprise in Nigeria held a 2014 Spring Festival Evening Party. CGCOC Ethiopia company held a garden party and a dinner party to welcome the Lunar New Year. Over 130 employees from the department of water affairs, the department of road and bridges, well drilling department, wind power department, Hansheng Block and Glass took part in several games in the garden tour including ring tossing, basketball shooting, football shooting, ping-pong shooting and bowling. During the festival, on behalf of CGCOC Nigeria, company leaders paid a special visit to all the branch companies in Abuja to extend regards and a happy New Year wish to the grass-roots employees at work.
On January 26, approved by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of China, Yunnan Sunshine Infrastructure Company acquired the first-grade contracting qualification for the construction of road project. The acquisition of the qualification represents the full recognition of the company’s comprehensive strength and business performance, which will improve its competitiveness in the market and exert positive influence on its future development.
On December 14, CGCOC Chad Branch Company held its 2013 Awards Conference for Excellent Employees. The conference was themed “Co-Building a Bright Future for Chad” with an aim to award excellent employees, learn exemplary deeds and promote the development of the company and local economy. At the conference, 33 Chadian and 17 Chinese employees were awarded. Lu Bin and Apoba Tao Ferdinand made a speech on behalf of the Chinese and Chadian employees respectively and extended gratitude for the company’s recognition and awards. After the conference came to an end, General Manger Pang Dong son and HR Manager Nondogomgar Apoline received interviews from Chad National Television and Radio introducing CGCOC Chad branch. In recent years, Chad branch has held such awards conference each year that was called “The Festival of CGCOC” or FêTE DE CGCOC by local employees.
On July 6 2013, the Phase II of ADAMA Wind Power Project in Ethiopia was launched officially. The total installed capacity of the project was 153 megawatt. The contract period was no more than 20 months. The project was organized and executed by a joint venture project office consisting of CGCOC and HydroChina Corporation.
On September 26 2013, Vice-chairman of the CPPCC Qi Xuchun visited Hansheng Glass Company in Ethiopia accompanied by Chinese Ambassador in Ethiopia Xie Xiaoyan and Counsellor Qian Zhaogang of the Economic and Commercial Office among a dozen of people. Vice-chairman Qi Xuchun showed great interest in visiting the manufacturing shop. General Manager of Hansheng Glass Xiao Yong made a brief introduction on the raw materials import, glass production and sales. Vice-chairman Qi expressed appreciation for the glass company’s role as an important sign for the industrialization of Ethiopia. In the meantime, he pointed out that with the development of the Ethiopian economy and accelerating industrialization, the glass company would yield more benefits. During his visit, Vice-chairman showed his regards for the workers at the production line and took photos with them to mark the occasion.
On December 1 2013, the Founding Conference of Chinese Enterprises Association in Cameroon was held in Chinese Embassy in Cameroon. Chinese Ambassador Wo Ruili and Counsellor Gao Yongqin attended the conference where our company was awarded as a vice-president and director company of the Chinese Enterprises Association (two companies in total) among 30 Chinese enterprises in Cameroon. General Manager of Cameroon branch Xiao Xinsheng attended the conference.
On October 26 2013, Mr. Han Changfu, Minister of Agriculture inspected our company during his visit to Ethiopia. Accompanied by Xiao Yong, General Manager of Hansheng Glass, Minister Han paid a field trip to the company. Subsequently, General Manager Sun Guoqiang, Deputy General Manager Gao Lei of Ethiopia branch and Wang Miao, General Manger of West African Green Agriculture company in Nigeria made reports respectively to Minister Han about the development the company, its market exploring and the Group’s achievements in developing African agriculture. Minister Han expressed appreciation for our achievements in Ethiopia and encourages us to keep on making new progress in agriculture.
On the afternoon of July 14 2013, President Koroma of Sierra Leone inspected our Nigeria branch during his visit on Nigeria. President Koroma first was briefed on the development of the branch company, its business and then visited the villa project in Royal Choice Community of our real estate branch company. President Koroma spoke highly of our company’s construction technique and provided valuable suggestions for us. The president was received by Deputy General Manager of Nigeria branch Ru Changyu, Huang Jie, Ye Shuijin , General Manager Assistant Xiong Liang and Deputy General Manager of Water Affairs branch Jiang Liwei.
On the afternoon of May 29 2013, CGCOC Group held a signing ceremony for a strategic cooperation agreement with Zhejiang Transportation Engineering Construction Group in the meeting room of Hangzhou Qianjiang Business Building. President Ji Weimin of CGCOC Group hosted the ceremony and delivered a keynote speech. Chairman Wang Hong of Zhejiang Transportation Engineering Construction Group hosted the ceremony and signed the agreement on behalf of the Group.
On March 30 2013, CGCOC Nigeria branch won the bidding for Mahadi Road Project in its first bidding attempt. The road was 96km long with a total of 20 months of construction. This project marks the CGCOC’s official access to Nigerian market.
